A New Chapter in the Green Revolution: Fully Degradable Packaging Emerges, Bringing a Glimmer of Hope to Plastic Pollution Control

I. What are Fully Biodegradable Packaging Bags?

Fully biodegradable packaging bags are packaging materials that can be completely decomposed by microorganisms into water, carbon dioxide, and organic matter in a natural environment, leaving no harmful residues in the final decomposition products. Unlike traditional plastics that take hundreds of years to decompose, fully biodegradable materials can typically decompose completely within months under specific conditions.

II. Main Material Types

1. PLA (Polylactic Acid) Bags

Raw Material Source: Starch from plants such as corn and cassava

Characteristics: High transparency, good hardness, appearance similar to traditional plastics

Degradation Conditions: Requires an industrial composting environment (temperature 55-70℃, suitable humidity)

Cost: Currently approximately 1.8-2 times that of traditional PE bags

2. PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate/Terephthalate) Bags

Characteristics: Good flexibility, commonly used in applications requiring flexible packaging

Degradability: Mostly degrades in soil within 6-12 months

3. PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoate) Bags

Production Process: Produced by microbial fermentation

Unique Advantages: Degradable in various environments such as seawater and soil

Applications: Marine-friendly packaging, medical field

4. Starch-Based Composite Material Bags

Composition: Starch (corn, potato, etc.) + biodegradable polyester

Characteristics: Relatively low cost, can be composted at home

Note: Pure starch bags soften easily when exposed to water, requiring composite modification.

Qingdao Xingzhan Packaging Co., Ltd. is committed to achieving true sustainable development through a systematic transformation of "source reduction - reuse - recycling - end-of-life degradation". With mature technology and improved facilities, these "disappearing bags" will play a crucial role in building a circular economy.
