Development trends and environmental innovations in the composite packaging industry
Faced with environmental pressures, the composite packaging industry is actively seeking solutions:
1.Single-material recyclable packaging:
Developing composite packaging made entirely of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE). While the performance of each layer may vary, because they are all from the same broad material family, they are more easily identified and processed by recycling systems. An example is a stand-up pouch with an "all-PE structure."
2.Water-based inks and adhesives:
Using more environmentally friendly water-based materials instead of traditional solvent-based materials reduces VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions and pollution.
3.Biodegradable materials:
In specific applications, biodegradable materials such as PLA (polylactic acid) are being explored as one of the layers, but consideration should be given to their barrier properties and cost.
