Why do we need composite packaging? Can't we use a single material?
Many foods have very demanding requirements for packaging, and a single material often cannot meet all the requirements at the same time.
For example:
Plastic bags: They offer good moisture resistance, but they offer poor oxygen and aroma barrier properties and are easily torn.
Aluminum foil: They offer excellent barrier properties (water, oxygen, and light protection), but they are prone to bending and cracking, and cannot be heat-sealed on their own.
Paper: They offer good printability and high stiffness, but are not moisture or air barrier.
Lamination technology can combine the strengths of these materials, addressing their respective shortcomings and creating versatile packaging.
